Why teach?

    Hi! my name is Mariela and this is my third year at Texas state. From my past teachers I can tell that teaching is a job that takes heart and passion. Beign a teacher has always been my dream job ever since I was a kid. I have a lot memories of when I was younger where I would play school with my cousins and somehow I was always the teacher. Not only did I use to play school but even in elementary school, as a 5th grader I would always volunteer to help younger levels. I was a lonely child for about 10 years and when my brother came around I felt as of I had to be a role model for him. Now that he's in school he reaches out to me when he doesnt understand his homework. Its such a good feeling when im explaing to him, because most of the time Im able to tell that he actually did gain a greater understanding.

    Im hoping to become an Elementary teacher and teacher 1st or 2nd grade. Early childhood eduaction has to be one of the most important phases in a students learning career. This is where they begin to interact and trust people other than their family. Elemantary teachers are almost like the base of a successful future in education. They are in charge of teaching basic life skills such as adding, subtracting the alphabet, reading, writing, and many more things. Some of my passions for being a teacher is that I absolutley love interacting with kids they are so smart and their way of thinking is impressive, they always come out up with the craziest thoughts. Not only do I love interacting with kids but I also want to be able to teach them things that will stick with them forever. Many people could say that this job is not paid well, I personally feel like its the best paid, because there is no better pay than knowing you have taught a student things that will help them to be succeful.

@learningwithheidi really caught my eye because unlike others she does not do her tiktok based on an everyday life but instead she gives out information and tips. She proves to the audience that her tips and ways do in fact work by showing clips of the students learning the material and giving supportive information to as of why it works.

 A common misconception is that a teachers job is nice, simple and easy. The truth is that it is not like many think. A teacher is responsible for so many things aside from educating academics to students.Specially because all of the students come from different backgrounds and have had different experiences due to their culture. As mentioned before aside from teaching, a teachers job is also to make all students feel confident and safe with who they are. To accomplish this there is only so many things that a teacher can do. What is worth learning?

 It is said that we go to school to learn and to educate ourselves for a brighter future and better job. But how much of this is true? How are we expected to educate ourselves if the curriculums are limiting our learning.To answer the compelling question, "What is worth learning?" aside from what the curriculums say we should learn I believe that everything is worth learning. For example, when it comes to black history as mentioned on the null curriculum, its very much restricted and it is being taught one sided. Both teachers and students should be exposed to every side of history in order to grow their knowledge. I connected the compelling question to my Blackout Poem because after reading the "Ending Curriculum Violence" article I personally think that racial violence is not only happening nowadays in the classrooms but it has been happening for several years outside the classrooms.
