What is the Purpose of public schools?

  Education forms a big part of how we grow individually and the chances of becoming successful. Someone who has had a better eduaction in a better and more wealthier town with public schools is more likely to become more succesful than someone who lives in a unlweathier town who couldn't attend a public school. Many times students ask their teachers questions like, " what is the point of coming to school", " are we ever going to need this in the future?". Truth is that they will eventually need what they are learning. Adding subtracting reading are all basic things that parents teach but children do gain more practice and better understanding at school. So, to answer the students question, there actually is a purpose to school, specially public schools. If there wasnt any public schools a lot of childrens wouldn't have an affordable place to learn or be even be able to have an education.   Why teach?      Hi! my name is Mariela and this is my third year at Texas state. From my past teachers I can tell that teaching is a job that takes heart and passion. Beign a teacher has always been my dream job ever since I was a kid. I have a lot memories of when I was younger where I would play school with my cousins and somehow I was always the teacher. Not only did I use to play school but even in elementary school, as a 5th grader I would always volunteer to help younger levels. I was a lonely child for about 10 years and when my brother came around I felt as of I had to be a role model for him. Now that he's in school he reaches out to me when he doesnt understand his homework. Its such a good feeling when im explaing to him, because most of the time Im able to tell that he actually did gain a greater understanding.     Im hoping to become an Elementary teacher and teacher 1st or 2nd grade. Early childhood eduaction has to be one of the most important phases in a students
